Given the economic situation of our country and all., I would highly appreciate an honest perspective of yours on dropping out in the middle of graduation if one feels they are better off without a “degree”.
Given the economic situation of our Pakistan and all, I would highly appreciate an honest perspective on cancelling further studies in the middle of graduation (3rd semester), if one simply feels they are better off without a “degree”.
Salaam Zayd – I am not anti-university, but I do see a time when less people will be ‘expected’ to go to university and more people will do practical kind of college education that leads them to these kinds of careers… which in Pakistan may seem ‘lowly’. In Australia and the US there are community colleges that teach applied subjects eg. how to be a seamstress, how to be a graphic designer, and many other things without the need for a Uni education. HOWEVER if you are already halfway through a degree, there doesnt seem a lot of point in dropping out now! I would say stick with it, and then find yourself a niche to work in … the trouble with Pakistan of course is that there are millions of doctors, engineers and accountants, but hardly anything else. Find a niche to make yourself an expert in, and go for it! Dont just be one of the masses.
